UK'S VISITOR ATTRACTION SECTOR GETS £50M BOOST

The steep surge in staycations and inbound tourism this past year has clearly been reflected in the UK's visitor attraction sector, with a hefty investment of £50M set to enhance Britain's most loved attractions.

2018 will see the opening of Alton Tower's newest rollercoaster - Wicker Man - which will combine wood and fire for the first time in rollercoaster history.

This year will also see the inauguration of Bear Grylls Adventure, a survivalist park coming to the Birmingham NEC later in the year.

CEO at the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions, Paul Kelly, said: “Major investment across the industry means there’s lots of great new attractions on offer throughout the UK.”

“Shared experiences with friends or family are also becoming ever more important in today’s busy world. A visit to a UK attraction not only creates the opportunity to spend time together, but represents great value for money compared to many other activities."
