ANGRY BIRDS ADVENTURE GOLF COMING TO THE UK

Soon, you won’t have to make the trip to Gran Canaria if you want an Angry Birds adventure golf experience.

Rovio Entertainment, the team behind the global phenomenon, have partnered with Namco to announce their plans to bring the family attraction to multiple locations across the UK!

The first confirmed location will be intu Metrocentre in Gateshead, the second-largest shopping centre and leisure complex in the UK. It will find its home in two restaurants, converted across two storeys of the Qube zone; the first level will house the themed course, while the upper level will comprise a reception and refreshment area. Namco Funscape will run the attraction, with their own arcade, dodgems and ten-pin bowling lanes already populating the development.

Kate Grant, regional managing director at intu, said: “Angry Birds Adventure Golf is going to provide a thoroughly entertaining and completely new leisure experience for the centre’s 20 million annual footfall, alongside its great mix of retail and dining”.

Expected to open in September 2019, the attraction has been timed to promote The Angry Birds Movie 2, also slated for release this year. Fans of the franchise can expect to see more adventure golf sites opening soon, with a minimum of five locations within the UK planned for the next three years.

Philip Millward, commercial director at Namco, said: “This will be the UK’s first Angry Birds Adventure Golf and there’s no better place to launch such a fun and entertaining experience than at one of the country’s most successful shopping centres”.
