Glamping Inspiration

The Farm Business Innovation Show is aimed at steering farmers and landowners into new directions to boost their profits. With Brexit on the way, and the potential pitfalls to come from this, changing up the business on your land has never been more pertinent.

In particular, diversifying into glamping is an amazing and lucrative method to boost profits from your land. Read more about some new glamping openings, here, to get some ideas for your very own glamping site...

New Openings

To begin with, plans for a new glamping site at a Wrexham County Borough farm have been submitted. Awaiting approval are 16 safari tents, and a barn conversion into a cafe and pub. On the contrary, a number of glamping sites have already received approval, and have been built...

Arnprior Farm, in Scotland, is famous for its pumpkin-picking patches (another great idea for diversification), but they’ve recently extended their land for a new purpose; glamping pods. Indeed, the farm has had a welcome addition of four bright-coloured glamping cabins, sleeping five people each, and featuring a hot tub! This way, the spare land they have can be put to great use.

Another new glamping retreat has opened up in California, called the Calabasas Glamping Bus! Taking visitors back to their school days, this converted school bus has all the modcons, including a gas hob, a flushing toilet, comfy beds, and gorgeous rustic decor. It’s the perfect place to get back to nature with the family.

Finally, a Herefordshire holiday park has brought a beloved children’s story to life, through their glamping site. The lodges, reminiscent of the Hobbit’s home, are designed after The Wind in the Willows, and are even named after three of the characters. Each lodge sleeps between two and nine people, and are designed for luxury, containing all of the creature comforts.

Adventure Park Opening Soon

Another fantastic idea for diversification is setting up an adventure park on your land or forest areas. For this, you can take inspiration from BeWILDerwood, in Cheshire, which is a £5 million outdoor adventure park!

This magical outdoor play area is a paradise amongst the trees, which invites adults and children alike through their doors. Join your children on an adventure through the woodlands, and embrace your inner child.

Hemp Growing

Unlike many farms these days, the four generations of the Murdoch family are working their farm like traditional labourers of old. Together, they plow their Jacksonville fields, and have recently diversified into growing hemp over the last three years. As a family, they naturally argue, but the work gets done, and they all share the profits between themselves.

This just goes to show that, even for a family farm, it is completely possible to diversify into new ventures. Whether it be new plants, like hemp, or completely new ideas, like a cafe or glamping pods, the options are endless!
