1. Delightful Decorations

This should go without saying, as Christmas decorations are the very beginning of Christmas festivities across the world! That said, we have some top tips to get this right…

Firstly, it’s important that you fit your decorations and lighting with the style of your holiday home. For example, if your residence is classy and sleek, then white and blue decorations and lighting could be the way to go.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a more traditional setting, then red, gold and green decorations, as well as yellow and orange lighting, are the perfect accompaniment. Finally, for a more retro, playful vibe, and where children may be involved, colourful lights are the ideal choice.

We can’t forget about a Christmas tree, which can also match your colour scheme through the use of lighting and baubles. Couple this with tinsel wrapped around the bannisters, and stockings hanging on the mantelpiece, and you can’t get any more festive than that!

2. Special Menus

One of the best ways to treat your guests during the festive season is to introduce them to unique Christmas Cocktails! Get creative with new drink ideas, and your guests will be enveloped in a completely unique experience.

Another great way of making your guests feel special is by providing them with a small hamper of festive goodies on arrival. Fill it with mince pies, delicious wine, onion chutney, an array of cheeses, crackers and oatcakes, and Christmas chocolates… your guests will love it!

Need some help with this? Adjoining the Holiday Park & Resort Innovation Show is the Leisure F&B Expo, which is the ideal place to meet companies who could help you introduce a festive twist to your menu. Link up with catering companies, or food and beverage companies with something new to offer, to truly excite your guests.

3. Schedule Your Own Festive Events, or Provide a Guide For Local Events

Another really great way to make your guests feel special is by providing them with a guide which describes the local festivities and hotspots. For example, provide maps for crisp winter walks, direct your guests to the local Christmas markets, or let them in on the best local pubs for a Christmas roast.

Alternatively, if you own a collection of holiday homes, and a restaurant or pub to go with it, there’s no harm in setting up your very own Christmas-themed events! Some ideas for this include:

  • Beer festivals

  • Cheese and wine nights

  • A Santa’s grotto

  • Festive cocktail-making sessions

  • Ice skating

4. Entertainment in a Cosy Christmas Setting

If you’re looking for a much easier idea to pull off, which will cost less money and time, then entertainment is an easy way to do this. For example, puzzles and board games are a classic family Christmas activity. By providing your guests with traditional games, like Monopoly and Articulate, you’ll be able to steer them away from technology to enjoy the festive setting.

You could also provide some Christmas DVDs for your guests to enjoy, helping them to get into the seasonal spirit. Simply make sure you provide comfy blankets and cushions to snuggle up with, and tools and logs for setting up a fire, and the setting will be magical.

5. Festive Additions

Finally, we’ve got a small list of additional extras that might be worth investing in to make your guests feel as special as possible. These include:

  • Scented candles, which provide a cosy feel, and exude scents of Christmas spices.

  • Scented Christmas sprays, to spritz around the holiday home before your guests arrive.

  • Toiletries which smell like “Christmas”, including smells like cinnamon, nutmeg and orange.

  • You could even write your guests a little Christmas card, and provide them with small gifts too.
