Prestigious award for Welsh Farm

Cwm Farm Charcuterie, based near Pontardawe in the Swansea Valley, scooped up a prestigious award at the House of Commons this week in the Food Chain & Marketing section of the Food & Farming Industry Awards. These awards recognise excellence, innovation and celebrate everything great in British Agriculture.

Cwn Farm started in 2010 with two in-pig gilts, and in the following years developed the business to include "Poacher's Pantry" (a catering trailer), winning 16 gold and 3 silver awards at the Royal Welsh Winter Show, investigating adding value to their meat in Denmark, 18 months of technical advice, butchery training and product development at the Food Centre Wales and much more!

“We bought Cwm Farm at Rhydyfro near Pontardawe in 2010 with the intention of producing our own pork and sausages,” said Ruth Davies.

“However so positive was the feedback from friends and family, we decided to expand our production and sell the meat from our growing herd of Saddleback and Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs.”

The farm now also boasts it's own Drying Chambers and produces three varieties of salami - with laverbread, traditional paprika and moroccan spice.
