About Prof Jacob Tompkins OBE
Jacob Tompkins is an expert on water and sewerage supplies. He has degrees from UCL and Imperial College London and is a visiting professor at Exeter University. He has worked in the water industry for over 30 years and has a detailed knowledge of both regulation and practice. He co-founded The Water Retail Company in 2017 with the aim of helping business save water and cut costs.
Since April 2017 the English and Welsh water market has been open to competition (this was already the case in Scotland). You can save money by switching retailers. But you can also make savings through checking your bills, being more water efficient, and making sure you are on the correct drainage tariffs, or are getting the correct non-return to sewer allowances.
